To Have & Hold

I made these wedding cards awhile back and never posted... a very clean and simple design in both white and black using some of my favorite pieces.
Here is a better view of the white design. I used a Cheery Lynn flower die, a Marianne's Design embossing folder.

I can't remember which stamp set this was I used with the words and rings.
So glad I am cleaning out my pictures and sharing many projects I never shared.
Thanks for stopping by -so glad to have you visit.

A Paper Cake Tutorial-just for you

Well I am sharing a tutorial today that I shared before- I made a decorated cake as a gift for my  daughter-in-law( for her and my sons wedding).

I get a lot of questions about how I put these cakes together to make the designs- so that is why I am sharing this beauty one more time.

I started with a great Cake Slice Box Set-Two Tier.   and Dress & Tuxedo Box Set.

Now you could cut your own patterns if you wish.

There is nothing better then having each piece perfectly cut and scored. No guess work was needed to make sure it all was the same.
I really thought about making it with the brides color choices- red and white base- but went with Lily White for all the pieces.
I am going to share a few steps along the way making this beauty
I found a cake platter and doily to use along with the package.

This is what the cake slices look like flat-I also showed how I refolded all the score lines before I started assembling. I  used some
Killer White Tear-able Tacky Tape - 1/4" to all the flaps.

***  I used this since this finished cake had to be wrapped and sent 1600 miles and I wanted to make sure it held together through everything***

Here is a couple views of the cake slices assembled- I used the Atg tape in between to hold the slices together.

Tissue paper was used inside each cake slice to help hold the shape- again this isn't necessary but I knew I was adding a lot on the top in weight and then sending in the mail.
Here I wanted to show you how I once again pre-folded the score lines before assembling.

Assembling the tuxedo went together very quickly- just a little tape to hold the shirt in place.
I folded the lapels and taped them down to hold in place.

Now the brides dress was customized by me to match my future DIL's dress- used some white tissue paper and white tulle to make.
Here is a finished view of the extra ones that were added to the package (I did make two sets ).

On this brides dress you can see the folds and pearls.
I added a flower and leaves for the grooms corsage.

I have included a few extra views of this finished project.Ribbon, pearl bead trims, tulle, and small red paper flowers are from Hobby Lobby I also purchased the Prima flowers from Hobby Lobby.

So glad you have popped in to visit today, I so enjoyed sharing this special gift with all of you.

Sketches In Thyme -team A

We are back this week with this fun sketch again from SKETCHABILITIES - now you know the drill- use our sketch and enter at Sketches In Thyme.
Our team A is up this week but I couldn't resist playing along.
I just love this layout I did of my DDIL trying on and getting fitted for her dress.
I wanted to save this special moment for her choosing and realizing this is what she has been dreaming about all her life.
Webster Pages paper
Really Reasonable Ribbon
Heidi Swapp alphabet
Pink Paislee border
K & Co flowers and embellishments
Pizzaz APlenty-Embellishments

Wanted to show a close up of the 75 pink pearls I put on the letters. Pizza APlenty has some of the prettiest colors I have seen.
Now don't forget to pop over to Sketches In Thyme and check out the creations by the Mavens this week.

Mother Son Dance Song (Grab Tissues)

Hello Everyone,
I am safely home and just wanted to share a few updates and such.
Sorry I haven't been around visiting yet- I came home with a sinus /chest infection.
We are in the middle of a state of emergency with our city completely closed down- we received around 23'-25' inches of snow since last night.

The couple is officially married and we couldn't be prouder.
Here is the couple being announced

My daughter on the left  and the brides sister on the right
Yes I look terrible- everyone was watching and taking pictures, my son was singing and of course I was crying!!!

This is a video of the music my son chose for the Mother-Son dance!!!

Biggest Fan- Backstreet Boyz

It takes a lot to know what is love
It's not the big things, but the little things
That can mean enough
A lot of prayers to get me through
And there is never a day that passes by
I don't think of you
You were always there for me
Pushing me and guiding me
Always to succeed

CHORUS:
You showed me
When I was young just how to grow
You showed me
Everything that I should know
You showed me
Just how to walk without your hands
'Cause mom you always were
The perfect fan

God has been so good
Blessing me with a family
Who did all they could
And I've had many years of grace
And it flatters me when I see a smile on your face
I wanna thank you for what you've done
In hopes I can give back to you
And be the perfect son

REPEAT CHORUS

You showed me how to love
You showed me how to care
And you showed me that you would
always be there
I wanna thank you for that time
And I'm proud to say you're mine

REPEAT CHORUS

'Cause mom you always were,
mom you always were
Mom you always were,
you know you always were
'Cause mom you always were... the perfect fan

I love you mom

Thanks everyone for all the wonderful good wishes and thoughts.
You are all the best!
I will share better photos as I get them

Today Is The Wedding Day

As you are viewing these projects today We will be attending our youngest son's wedding.
I am beyond thrilled and so darn proud of them both.
God has given me another daughter knowing I had plenty of love to go around for another child.

I spent December trying to make some gifts for my future DIL. Did you already see the bridesmaids gift boxes ?
Today I want to share a couple pictures of two albums and a frame I made for the sign in area.
My Dil has chosen red- black and white as her colors.
This is the stand up frame and I used a Corinthians quote to share  inside.
This is one of the albums, not sure I like the black swirls on there, so
I gave her the choice of removing them.

This is the second album I made. That is not their picture- just a stock photo in the album
I really enjoyed the clean look of these colors together. Most of all I am glad she likes at least one of these to use for the Wedding.
Thanks for popping in to view my pictures- I know I have enjoyed all your comments as I shared as much as I could.
Which one do you think she chose to use for the wedding???

Please leave some good wishes and blessings for the couple - we all  appreciate your prayers and  most of all your friendship
