I actually got lucky and got to participate in two challenges with this one layout.
Capture These Sketches had a great sketch - # 51
They are also running a chance to enter the end of September as a guest designer on their blog with this sketch. Pop over and check it out.
Better scraps has their 2nd challenge posted for September
“Bad photo challenge”
Create a layout using a photo or photos that you would normally have discarded or dismissed.
Chose at least 2 of the following:
1. Use rub-ons or stickers directly on your photo(s).
2. Use paint on your page in a messy or unusual way.
3. Use a die-cut or pre-purchased journaling “spot” on which to write your journaling.
4. Use this sketch as design inspiration for your page.
5. Make a handmade flower using Katie’s technique in our August 1st reveal, and use the flower on your layout.
I used to of my least favorite pictures with three of the above options.
Let me tell you the reason I don't like these pictures ...they remind me of a time that wasn't pleasant. My first husband and I divorced this year and went through difficult times. Divorce is horrible but children take so much in and rarely complain. These were tough years for all of us.
Supplies used:
GCD Studios- Melody Ross -Homespun Paper
Beautiful You- Cosmo Cricket rub-ons
Chatterbox paper
Close To My Heart Journaling spots
American Crafts puffy Thickers Blue
Scribble 3 -dimensional paint in baby blue
Thanks so much for stopping in today, I so enjoy sharing my layouts with all of you.

Dawn - you did a wonderful job with the challenge. I love stopping by your blog and finding new sketch sites. I have some photos that I feel the same way about. Divorce is a difficult time for the kids. I know for myself I got all caught up in the moment and sometimes found myself forgetting how hard it was for Jeffrey and Sara.
ReplyDeleteDawn your pages are always sooo wonderful, wow girl you are sooo uber talented..Your take on the sketch is just perfect!!!!! Fabby creation, Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteDawn, Great job on your layout and following the brief. Love the layout. Scrapping should always include the good and bad, and the bad helps us to learn and be stronger. Being a child of a divorce , the best thing a parent can do is realise their children are involved too and you are doing that. It just takes time to get through it. Thanks for sharing and Have a wonderful weekend. Angela
ReplyDeleteYou did an amazing job with this! I must say you look too young to even be married in this picture!!
ReplyDeleteHmmm, hopefully that sounded like a compliment! Looking young is a good thing! :)
Those flowers are fabulous, and I love the paper chosen. Sorry these pictures remind you of difficult times. Hopefully making them pretty helps heal old wounds.
ReplyDeleteBig Hugs,
Tanya
