Top Tip Tuesday-Copic Tutorial

Hello everyone!
So glad you can stop in today to join us for a new Top Tip Tuesday tutorial. I am thrilled to be able to share a quick and easy way to start using Copic markers.
Let me start by saying- I am not Copic Certified, I have no formal training. This is my own opinions and steps I use to color images. This is just a guide to help you and I hope makes you want to play with Copic markers.
I have shown in this first step what colors I used and also how I put down the base colors. This is how I like to work, using the darkest color first.I have outlined the bear with the lightest gray, it makes the white pop or almost as if I colored the bear white. I also added a shadow under the bear and Penguin almost like they are standing in snow. Do you think it looks realistic?
In step two I am showing you how I add the second and sometimes a third color. I also use the blender to remove some color. Did you know the blender removes color?
Did you know that The C -gray colors make Black?
In step three you can see where I have started to color the scarf and hats. I try to use the darker colors where there would be shadows or folds. If you think about this scene I am assuming the light is coming in from the left so that side of everything will be lighter.
In step four I am adding the extra colors to the accessories and using the blender to remove any extra and also take off a few spots to give that worn look -see the red hat, and the scarf and how I used the blender to remove the front sections?
This is the final step showing you everything colored and the few spots where I removed using the blender.
So did these steps make sense to you? Do you think this will help you get started ?

Here is my finished card- I cut out the image with a Spellbinder shape, even had the image overlap the shape.
Now you know I had to add a few flakes to make this realistic.

Hope you enjoyed my tutorial on using Copic markers. Please let me know if you have any questions. I will try to help.

  3. You are so artistic, creating shadows and blending... I just don't get how to decide which part should be lighter, which should be blended and where shadows should go. Your work is so beautiful!
